Temple of sound – A Festival Website in Tune with the Music

Minimalist festival site – synced in real-time with the playlist.

In a former cinema hall in rural Austria, a sea of loudspeakers comes alive each September. We helped Temple of Sound find its online voice – with a minimalist site that syncs with the music in real time.

Brief & Backstory

Temple of Sound is a yearly sound installation festival held in the old Kamptal-Lichtspiele cinema in Gars am Kamp. Curated by O.A.D.E.M. and Gars Electronica, it’s an ode to electroacoustic music – featuring 34 original works played in programmed sequence. Since 2022, we’ve supported the project with a semi pro-bono website that gives the event a digital presence to match its analogue beauty.

The Big Idea

The site needed to be quiet, in the best possible way. We kept the design clean, adaptable, and subtly expressive – letting the sound (and the space) take centre stage. It had to look great on everything from laptops to phones, while being easy to update by the organisers.

How We Brought It to Life

  • We built a lightweight, CMS-backed site with a few clever tricks
  • Organisers could manage content, images, and videos on their own
  • A livestream player allowed users to tune in remotely
  • During the festival, the online playlist synced with the actual room – showing visitors what was playing, even if they were far from the speakers

Things We Geeked Out On

  • Responsive design with an artsy twist (no boring grids here)
  • CMS setup for self-managed multi-media content
  • Real-time playlist sync between venue + website
  • Embedded video stream support with low-latency fallback

What It Did for the Client

The Temple of Sound finally had an online home as carefully composed as the music it celebrates. Festival-goers could follow along in real time, and curious visitors could explore the programme from afar. A soft digital pulse behind a very analogue heart.
